Nintendo confirm UK cuts
Friday, October 03, 2003 at 10:59 by Craig Beaumont
From Friday 10th October, Nintendo's GameCube will cost a tiny £79, making it cheaper than Nintendo's own Gameboy Advance! This cut comes a week after dropping the price in the US to $99.

Sony had announced from 1st October the PlayStation2 console would be available in the UK for a RRP of £139 for the black PlayStation2 and the new silver PS2, which offers better DVD playback, an in-built IR receiver and reduced fan noise by 75%, would be available for £149.

So far Microsoft haven't replied to these price cuts with one of their own but a spokesman for the company said that the X-Box would remain to be "priced competitively"

But with the gauntlet well and truly thrown down by Nintendo and with Christmas still two months away, you have to wonder how low these giants can go...
