It may only be a few months old, it may be central to the latest to T-mobile handset but that has not stopped the realisation of a potentially serious security flaw in the android browser. While not uncommon in the world of new technology this is something of a blow for Google which has waited literally years to become part of the mobile phone market and only received a luke warm welcome of late.
More concerning was the fact that the security flaw in the browser was not discovered by Google but by a third-party security company who have been attempting to find flaws since the product was launched. Even though Google has claimed the flaw was not serious, as each and every element of the browser is partitioned into its own section, the announcement has caught many Google fans off guard.
The new security fix is already available for download and those using the system will be prompted to download the update next time they log on to their mobile handset. This latest announcement has also opened the age old fight between security companies and Internet providers whereby they have asked time and time again for a period of grace to fix any problems. |
