It has literally been the stuff of fairytales to land a man on Mars and when some experts in the field believed it would never happen in our lifetime it looks as though they could be wrong. Scientists in the UK have made a major breakthrough with regards to possibly the main obstacle to landing life on Mars, coping with the heat and the substantial space storms which could literally smash a space station to pieces.
The new system revolves around a magnetic force which is created around the spacecraft acting as a protective coating which should deflect the heat and the powerful space storms. The new system has been tested in the labs and certainly seems to offer great protection to the model spacecraft used. While landing a man on the moon was a major feat of technology, the funding and technology required to land a man or woman on Mars would be the largest and most complex venture ever seen in the world.
However while the UK scientists are likely to tie-up with their US counterparts it seems as though Russia and China may well be a little further down the line. It will be interesting to see who actually makes the first move as the so-called Red Planet has always held great mystery and intrigue for those in the age of space travel. |
