Youngsters taking up hacking for fun!
Monday, October 27, 2008 at 23:15 by Mark Benson
So what would you expect to be the biggest threat to online security in the modern world? The Russian mafia? Terrorist cells from the Middle East? Well think again.....

Online security firms have confirmed a very worrying trend in computer hacking which is seeing kids of 11 and 12 exchanging stolen credit card numbers online, swapping hacking techniques and requesting hacking kits. This worrying trend goes back to May this year when a serious hacking ring was uncovered in Spain, a ring which included a large number of teenagers. While there were arrests and the ring was closed down this seems to have been but the tip of the iceberg as far as young hackers go.

Even though research has shown that many of the younger hackers treat it as a form of online gaming, there are grave concerns that this attitude could change as they grow older and see the serious amounts of money at stake. So how have the youngsters been rumbled? How was their cover broken?

They may be professional hackers but they are still kids at heart and there constant bragging to friends and in online forums seems to have been the undoing of them. Lets us hope that they learn their lesson at some stage!
