There are some very strong rumours in the market concerning the forthcoming launch of a new and ground breaking broadband service from Virgin Media. Richard Branson's outfit has already claimed a sizeable chunk of the UK market and if the rumours are true, the new 50mbps service will push them to the top of the leader board in the UK.
If the rumours are correct it seems as though Virgin Media is about to tie-up with Carphone Warehouse to sell its XXL broadband line package to the ever growing band of UK broadband users. The idea of using the retail power of Carphone Warehouse with the brand awareness created by Virgin Media seems to be a match made in heaven and could open other doors for the two groups in the future.
The new Virgin Media broadband package is said to include various bundles for TV and telephone services and a free laptop. This deal, if it is true, has the potential to change the face of the UK broadband market at a time when consumers and businesses are crying out for faster and faster broadband speeds.
It will also place immense pressure on the likes of Be broadband, BT broadband and the other leaders in the sector who are all in trials regarding increased service speeds. However, the UK broadband market is very volatile and unpredictable to say the least and Virgin Media will not have the whole market to itself! |
