MI6 spy camera ends up on eBay
Wednesday, October 01, 2008 at 10:07 by Mark Benson
While they may be one of the most feared of intelligence agency is the world it seems that even the infamous MI6 is prone to the odd gaff or two with news that a highly sensitive MI6 camera was placed on eBay and bought by a member of the general public. However, to make matters worse the camera had not been cleaned of pictures, fingerprints and the private details of those being monitored!

The Nikon CoolPix camera was acquired for £17 by a 28 year old man from Hemel Hempstead who got the shock of his life when he received his new gift. These were no run of the mill pictures these were some of the most feared al Qaeda members known to the forces, with fingerprints and other personal details readily available.

It is not certain how the camera came to end up on eBay but was is certain is that it was a serious breach of regulations and could quite literally have blown open a number of potential court cases in the future. If there is a moral to this story it is to make sure that you clear any electronic equipment before you even consider selling on eBay!
