Woolworths slashes cost of Xbox 360 Arcade
Monday, September 15, 2008 at 01:37 by Mark Benson
It has been revealed, by a carefully managed leak, that Woolworths will be slashing the price of an Xbox 360 Arcade to £130. The move was announced on a number of gadget sites with a supposed scan of the forthcoming Christmas catalogue confirming the plans to reduce the price. Whether it is a gimmick to attract attention or a true leak from the company remains to be seen but it appears to have substance.

There is also a feeling on the high street that despite the ongoing recession in the UK we will be seeing a games console price war as Christmas approaches. While Microsoft had for months been suggesting that no price cuts were need for the Xbox, we appear to have the next move on our doorstep. But will the likes of Nintendo and Sony follow suit with the Wii and Playstation?

In one word yes! The big players cannot afford to let Microsoft grab the headlines and we should see the likes of Nintendo and Sony arranging their very own ‘leaks' to confirm their plans for Christmas. The next few months are vital for all of the main players and being top of the popularity list come the start of 2009 is a prize they all want.
