Where Will Google Look Next?
Friday, September 05, 2008 at 14:02 by Mark Benson
As the controversy over the launch of Google's top secret browser, Chrome, starts to die down there is now speculation as to where the internet giant will look next to strengthen its grip on the internet.

While Android, the mobile phone operating system, seems to have hit some snags this seems as if it will be the next sector to attack, but can Google crack the control of the big players in the market?

The mobile phone industry is an area which Google looks determined to break into in a big way but the large network providers and the likes of Microsoft (with their Windows Mobile system) are not interested in moving aside to let the new kid on the block dictate the pace.

There has also been speculation in the past that Google is looking to the radio waves as a way of extending the reach of its Adsense and Adwords network but this seems to be at a very early stage and appears to have been placed on the back burner for now.

Quite where Google will look to next is a bit of a mystery because it either has an exposure or cannot break into any of the major markets which are left. As the group gets bigger so the acquisitions need to reflect this increase in size. However, the larger the acquisition or new venture the more risky they become.
