While there has been much speculation and demand for a pay as you go iPhone, those who were after one of the most iconic phones of the decade may well be having second thoughts after seeing the price!
The iPhone pay as you go model will go on sale through O2 later this month but it will cost you a whopping £349.99 and even then you will have to spend at least £10 a month to get unlimited internet access. While Apple is looking to expand the range of customers for the iPhone a price in excess of £300 is hardly likely to see them queuing outside of the shop on day one. Or is it?
This Christmas seems set to be the year of the expensive handset with Nokia on the verge of launching a whole group of handset which will utilise the groups ‘Comes With Music' service which we recently covered. Whether the networks are not willing to subsidise handset in the current environment or we really are seeing a play for more quality in the pay as you go market remains to be seen. However, this Christmas will be like no other in the mobile phone shops around the UK and the world but who will win the battle? |
