In times when more and more people are using wireless laptops, PDAs and mobile phones remotely, the weight of equipment has become important when on the move – the lighter the better! Samsung have claimed to have made the lightest ever laptop, complete with a 13.3 inch screen.
The Samsung X360 will be available from September 2008 and weighs a mere 1.27 kg. It has a range of features including an Intel Centrino 2 processor, between 1 and 4GB of memory, 120GB of hard drive or a 128GB flash SSD of storage. The laptop also boasts up to 10 hours of battery life and a screen with 1280 x 800 resolution and an LED backlight.
The computer can not only be used as a laptop but can be placed on Samsung's P-Dock to become a desktop, complete with extra ports – Ethernet, usb and serial and video input and output. An external DVD drive is available, but has not been integrated to cut down on the weight of the laptop.
The Samsung X360 will be available with a one year international collect and return warranty and Windows Vista Business edition. However, the price of the laptop has not yet been announced.
