Unofficial news that Nike has teamed up with Apple to add a new and potentially ground breaking device to the iPhone has hit the headlines today. Unofficial iPhone pictures which have appeared in France show screenshots of a new application which offers a great improvement on the services offered by the popular Nike + iPod kit. While we await official confirmation from Apple the rumour mill is working overtime!
There is speculation that not only will users of the application be able to time themselves on the move, monitor their speed and calorie burn but they will also be able to make use of the 3G element of the iPhone. It appears that the Nike application would not only allow people to monitor how far they have travelled but also act like a SatNav system showing where they are anywhere in the world and giving directions to their destination.
While we have seen the Wii Fit take the gaming market by storm there appear to be high hopes that this rumoured application will grab a massive slice of the keep fit market and replace the array of simple accelerometers available today. However at the moment, in typical Apple style, the company has made no comment but is prepared to let the rumours continue until probable launch sometime later this year. |
