Microsoft Attack Nintendo Record On Third Party Games
Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at 14:29 by Peter Smith
While the Wii continues to break records with the Wii Fit even climbing back up the gaming charts to hit top spot, it seems that competition among the likes of Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo has never been higher. It was revealed today that since launch the Xbox has attracted 67 million third party games, the Wii 33 million and the PS3 just under 20 million.

Microsoft seems to be taking great joy in these figures but is the company running scared of Nintendo?

This is the first time that we have really seen Microsoft attack the Nintendo Wii directly, but then again these are probably the only figures we have seen of late which allowed them that pleasure. Whichever way you look at it the Xbox is by far the more prominent of the games consoles in the third party gaming market, so why is it still struggling against the Wii?

Maybe it is a quality issue? Maybe it is a gaming experience issue? Or maybe it is down to the unique Wii controller which seems to have taken Nintendo to a higher level. It would be interesting to see the sales figures for the top games on each console with the Wii certain to do well through sales of Wii Fit and Brain Training.
