Blackberry Set To Attack The iPhone
Saturday, August 09, 2008 at 00:21 by Peter Smith
In any industry the leaders are there to be shot at but the ammunition keeps on building in the mobile phone sector with Apple and the iPhone the main targets. The latest to load their gun is Blackberry owner RIM but will they hit the target, cause any damage or miss Apple completely?

This is not the first time that RIM has targeted Apple through their Blackberry division and while they have been moderately successful in the past, there are very high hopes for the new Blackberry Bold. This is also RIM's attempt to ward off the iPhone attack to RIM's dominance in the mobile email market – a vital area for the business community.

There is now a great divide in the market place with Blackberry believing that touch screen handset have their boundaries and are not universally accepted as the best way to create and send emails. Business people like business products and many are far happier using keyboards than touch screen communications.

The Blackberry Bold has an improved screen, a 2 megapixel camera and a 3G connection although the basic memory capacity is less than the iPhone. However, unlike the iPhone, where users are only able to view and not edit Microsoft Office documents, the Blackberry Bold offers the ability to edit Microsoft Office documents on the move.

So who will win this intriguing battle?
