Unsafe Chargers In Circulation In the UK
Monday, July 21, 2008 at 10:10 by Peter Smith
It has been revealed that literally hundreds of thousands of faulty chargers have been flooding into the UK from China. The chargers are used with mobile phones, games consoles and music devices but a number of checks have shown they can be very dangerous. One of the brands in questions has been shown to overheat or cause electrocution to the user prompting the release of this warning from the Trading Standards Office.

One of the dangerous items is sold under the Travel Charger brand name and one has the specific code marking of DE62347066. It seems as though this problem has been building for some time with Trading Standards first alerted to the issue 18 months ago after the death of a young British boy.

One of the problems seems to be the vast number of people on the look out for bargains in places such as eBay and market stalls. The dangerous chargers are being sold at around er item against a traditional price of anything up to It is hoped that by issuing this severe warning the Trading Standards Office will be able to nip the issue in the bud and ensure that no more lives are put in danger.
