As is now compulsory, the main players in the gaming industry cannot go to E3 without showing off one of their new, up and coming products. We have seen Microsoft and Sony use this platform to release news of future products, but the new Wii motion controller seems to have caught out everyone in the industry.
Conscious that the original Wii motion controller needed to be revamped at some stage the group will soon be releasing an ultra sensitive controller to the market. Nintendo hope that this new controller (which they have been working on for some time) will cement their position as leaders in this area of gaming. As Microsoft and Sony continue to work on their own motion sensitive controllers the need for Nintendo to keep one step ahead has never been more important.
The group also confirmed that the last 5 years has seen the group rise from its knees to top of the class selling 200,000 Wii consoles each week. New games are being released thick and fast and Nintendo has been able to respond to market trends quicker than many competitors. It is also interesting to see that new games such as Brain Training and Nintendogs have shown extended shelf lives which have now extended beyond 2 years – quite an achievement in the fast moving world of gaming. |
