Clarification Of Aircell VoIP News Story
Wednesday, July 09, 2008 at 20:12 by Peter Smith
We have been contacted by representatives of Aircell with regard to our recent news story "Free VoIP In The Sky" and asked to clarify a number of points.

We are more than happy to confirm that :-

After feedback from consumers prior to releasing the Gogo service, the VoIP capabilities possible via the Aircell Wi-Fi connection will be blocked onboard all flights, for passenger comfort. However, there will be a text based communications service available.

The Gogo service was free during two recent test flights and has not yet been rolled out to the wider market. As we mentioned in our original story, the service will soon be available on American Airlines and Virgin America, costing between $9.95 and $12.95 per person per flight. Again, the service will only include text based communications."
