IPTV Firm Receives £9.5 Million Cash Injection
Friday, June 06, 2008 at 16:49 by Peter Smith
While the internet is already being used as a medium for transmitting limited TV content to the masses, IPTV firm Inuk Networks has announced two new backers for the group and a £9.5 million investment. Welsh broadcaster S4C and Canadian business magnate Sir Terry Matthews have joined forces and invested the funds into the UK based IPTV Company.

IPTV is basically a means of transmitting TV programs using the same methods used to join computer networks around the world, the most common being the internet. Inuk Networks currently has a presence in the UK but at the moment it is restricted to the student accommodation sector. However the funds from the two new investors will allow the group to build on the success of their Freewire triple-play service and increase the potential audience for their services.

S4C bring their obvious knowledge of the TV market to the fore, as well as the potential to combine their content with the Freewire service, and Sir Terry Matthews brings his expertise in the new technology market of today. As IP based TV continues to grow in popularity there are high hopes that Inuk Networks can substantial increase its audience base and become a major player in the future.
