Latest Security Patch for Vista
Wednesday, May 09, 2007 at 19:50 by Simon Spicer

This new patch repairs 19 flaws discovered in Vista, and 15 of those are classified as critical. A critical vulnerability is classified as such because it could allow remote code to be executed, if it were to be exploited. These 15 critical vulnerabilities cover nearly all of the most used software in Windows – Excel, Word, Internet Explorer, and others.

Dave Marcus, security research and communications manager, asks everyone who uses Vista to evaluate their security coverage to ensure they have the adequate protection. “Of particular concern is the large number of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Internet Explorer vulnerabilities being patched”, he was quoted saying.

No flaws in Vista itself have been found this month, although flaws in both Office 2007 and Internet Explorer 7 have surfaced.

If you're concerned about your computer's security, ensure that you have a firewall up, and complete virus/spyware protection, which is completely updated.

Microsoft assures us, though, that Vista will be made completely safe for us all in the near future.
