A New Homepage For Google. iGoogle?
Wednesday, May 02, 2007 at 13:26 by Simon Spicer

Google Personalised Homepage – many called it plain, dull, and unexciting, never mind awkward to say during a conversation. The idea of upgrading the name, and the homepage, into something more isn't an old idea.

However, they're now changing Google Personalised Homepage – adding a few features and the like – and have decided it was time to upgrade the name, as well.

iGoogle is the brand new name of what used to be Google Personalised Homepage, and Google hopes to extend a more personal feel with it (I Google, You Google, We All Google Google ?).

One of the best features for anyone outside the US is the new themes - every theme that was available to US users is now available to anyone outside the US, and 22 locales are debuting, as well

Also, the newest feature is the ability to build ‘gadgets' – now, gadgets are something you can design, and send to a friend, or a family member, or that boss that you hate. You can use photos, GoogleGrams, a quote of the day, a personalised holiday reminder, even a YouTube channel. These can also be set up automatically so that you're able to send one each day.

It's an exciting change for Google , and hopefully a good one.

But... does no-one else find the 'i' part kind of disturbing? I mean, okay, Apple do NOT have the money to buy Google. But still, that 'i' is a bit suspicious...
