First 16Gb Flash Chips Ever
Tuesday, May 01, 2007 at 20:17 by Simon Spicer

Samsung Electronics, which to most makes you think of cell phones, announced Sunday that it will be the first to manufacture a 16 gigabit NAND flash chip, which means that it will allow memory cards to hold up to 16 gigabytes, the highest capacity available.

Samsung says that with their new multilevel cell structure, they can increase store capacities of flash up to 16 GBs in one memory card, and hope to aim this towards portable devices that use a good deal of memory, like music phones.

Also, the speed of the device should be about 80 percent faster then old flash speeds, which is expected to make this for some enthusiasts the device of choice.
