Smarter Google Searching
Tuesday, May 01, 2007 at 13:19 by Simon Spicer

Starting midnight on May 1, 2007, Google will allow their new feature to go live – a smarter search.

Google's Sep Kamvar points out that it's difficult for a search engine to know exactly what you're looking for when your search could mean a few different things, like when you search for ‘car dealer', you can get results from all over the world.

Now, with the new feature in place, if you set your default location in Google Maps and if you do that same search – ‘car dealer' – you'll get the results most relevant, and closest to your default location, first.

This new feature allows more relevant search results with less work.
