Game on for PS3, as people start camping out.
Thursday, November 16, 2006 at 19:21 by Simon Spicer

The PlayStation 3 will be released in the United States 17th November 2006 (due for release in Europe and Australasia in March 2007).

This launch will mark the start of the Christmas battle between Xbox (Microsoft), PS3 (Sony) and the Wii (Nintendo), but Sony could stumble at the starting block with rumours that initial supply will not match the demand.

This has been a long running theme with console launches and as a result people have been queuing for days hoping to be one of the first to get the PS3. Its also expected that many people will sell their consoles on the likes of Ebay where pre ordered PlayStation 3s are fetching as much as $2,100, a whooping $1,500 more than the retail price.

Despite this initial short fall Sony does not expect this to hurt the overall sales of the PS3 and Sony expect the PS3 to dominate the games console market, much like the PS2 did/does.
