Microsoft issues latest critical Security Updates
Wednesday, November 15, 2006 at 20:26 by Simon Spicer
Microsoft has released more critical security patches, five of which got the highest threat rating because they address vulnerabilities that can allow attackers to get remote access to and take control of a users computer.

Out of the main 5 critical updates

  •  3 affect Windows XP
  •  1 affects Internet Explorer and Windows 2000
  •  1 affects Microsofts XML Core Services package (used by developers to build certain applications)

In addition, Microsoft has rated the sixth update as an important patch for users of both Windows 2000 and XP, and a moderate threat for users of its Windows Server 2003 software.

This months updates were officially the end of free mainstream support for XP Service Pack 1 and Office 2003.

As always the latest patches can be downloaded at www.microsoft.com/security
