BT launches its Digital Vault
Monday, October 23, 2006 at 18:38 by Darren Chew
BT has started signing people up for its new online service named Digital Vault. The Digital Vault service allows users to securely store personal files online and retrieve them anywhere in the world.

BT's Digital Vault offers 2 levels of service. One is a free Digital Vault Basic service, offering a 2GB storage limit for your personal files and the second, a chargeable service for £4.99 a month giving you access to BT's Automated backup manager and a much larger storage limit of 20GB.

The pay monthly service is being offered as a cheap and easy way for home users to securely back up their data, highlighting the possible costs and skills usually needed for a regular and secure backup of your personal files on your home computer.

BT say:-

BT Digital Vault Backup Manager makes it easy for you to select which folders you wish to backup. Once set up, it will then run regular automatic backups, every time you're online, protecting your data and leaving you with complete peace of mind.

Your data is encrypted when it is transmitted and then stored safely in our secure data hosting centre, ready for immediate access by you at any time.

At the moment this service is only available to PC users, running Windows 2000 and XP. It also requires Internet explorer 6 or higher.

If you are interested in the service, check out the Offical Site. At the moment there are 2 months free.
