UK University launches a degree course in hacking
Tuesday, June 20, 2006 at 15:07 by Simon Spicer

THE University of Abertay in Dundee is now offering the UK's first degree course in computer hacking.

The idea behind the degree course is to teach the students about the intricacies of computer security systems. It will then show them how to get round them, so that they can become security experts.

The University will be working with the Home Office and all applicants will be subjected to a vetting process.

Course leader professor Lachlan McKinnon said: "We will monitor students closely because we want them to become ethical hackers."
