Microsofts June security update - its largest to date
Thursday, June 15, 2006 at 21:21 by Simon Spicer

Microsoft has released its latest security update which plugs a total of 21 security holes in its Windows, Exchange and Office products.

Eight of the updates are rated as 'critical' updates, with most of the security holes being found in the Internet Explorer, 4 of which could allow attackers to take control of a users system via a specially coded website.

Two of the security holes could be used to display a spoofed web site address, which could inturn be exploited by phishing websites to steal confidential information such as login details for online banking websites.

There were also critical vulnerabilities in Windows Media Player which again could allow attackers to take control of a users system.

Users are urged to update their systems as quickly as possible.
