Plastic Strips Cause Macbook to Overheat
Wednesday, June 07, 2006 at 19:22 by Peter Smith

Apple (via a support article http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303848) have announced a fix to the overheating problem that has been experienced by some users of its Macbook Laptop.

Some users had reported that their Macbook had been overheating,

The low-tech fix, involving using your fingers and possibly eyes, is achieved by simply peeling off a piece of clear plastic that is covering up the rear air vents.

"Some Macbooks may have left the factory with a thin piece of clear plastic covering the rear vent. This is used in the factory to prevent dust from getting into your computer. If your Macbook has the plastic still over the vent, simply remove and discard it." Is the sound advice given by Apple.

So there you have it. Its worth noting that if you don't have the plastic strip but are having problems Apple recommends you check out this http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=30612 support article.
