UK Broadcasters Trial Mobile TV
Tuesday, June 06, 2006 at 14:13 by Peter Smith

The TV industry is today buzzing with rumours that ITV and the BBC are about to formally announce their participation in a mobile TV trial.

Backed by mobile handset makers LG and Samsung, the trial is set to run for 6 months. BBC will initially be broadcasting its News 24 channel, It is currently unknown which channel ITV will be providing.

The service will run on DAB technology currently used for digital radio. This technology should provide much better results than current 3G streaming options which are often interrupted.

There is no official comment from either company at this time, we will of course keep you posted when we know more.

The service is rumoured to cost around £10 per month extra on top of your current contract.
