Fancy being able to watch your home TV from anywhere in the world, well now you can. Sling Media, Inc today released there latest gadget to the UK, The Slingbox. The Slingbox allows you to watch your home based TV channels and digital video recorders anywhere in the world via the internet.
Rumored as looking like a giant bar of chocolate, the Slingbox attaches to both your video source and your computer network and redirects or place-shifts the video signal to your computer, which then transmits it across the internet to your location. You can even control what channel or input you're watching from your remote location, with the included remote control, just like on a real TV. Another feature the Slingbox boasts is to allow you to set your TiVo to record programs remotely over the internet, meaning no more missed programs.
Personally I think this is a great new gadget, especially with the world cup approaching very soon. Could this little box become every office manager's worst nightmare? The price may put people off a little, launched today at £179.99 the product only seems to be available at PC World, hopefully it won't be long till other retails catch on to what seems to be a top notch gadget.
