Nike and Apple have today announced a partnership to bring consumers the latest in running and music technology, the new Nike+ipod range. The first of the Nike+ipod range is the Nike+ipod sports kit. The sports kit is a wireless system that allows the Nike+ footwear to talk to your ipod nano.
Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO says:
'We're working with Nike to take music and sport to a new level'
So why would you want your footwear to talk to your ipod I hear you ask.
Well the Nike+ footwear connects to your iPod nano through the Nike+iPod wireless Sport Kit. The sports kit then relays information on time, distance, calories burned and pace, which is all stored on your iPod. As well as storing the information it also has a real-time onscreen screen display and a real-time audible feedback through the headphones.
Other products due for release include jackets, tops, shorts and an ipod nano armband. The new range aims to bring together the Nike+iPod experience with pockets that accommodate the iPod nano and are designed to make it easy to operate while staying tuned to your music during your workout.
The new Nike+ipod sports kit is set to be available through the Apple and Nike websites within the next 60 days, the launch price being a suggested $29.
