Microsoft Word Zero-Day Hack Used in Computer Attacks
Sunday, May 21, 2006 at 15:50 by Simon Spicer
Symantec Security is advising people to take extra precautions when opening e-mail messages containing Microsoft Word attachments.

Symantec Security Response have discovered a new zero-day exploit affecting Microsoft Word 2003 that is being used to carry out targeted attacks. If successful the attacker is able to drop a back-door Trojan named Backdoor.Ginwui on the victim's computer.

This Trojan sends information over HTTP to a specific IP address, but it is also possible for it to use the Trojan to gain control of the infected computer.
