Computer Glitch hits HSBC

A file corruption problem within HSBC has led to a problem where by payments due today have not been credited.

Today (Friday 28th April) Is the last working day of the month and for many people payday, Monday (1st May) is a public holiday (Bank Holiday) meaning all credits will not be paid until the Tuesday (2nd May)

According to HSBC 70,000 Credits have been affected. The exact details of the "file corruption problem" have not been released.

A HSBC Spokesperson said:

"Despite working overnight HSBC where unable to solve the problem in time to make the credits today. Some 70,000 credits are effected. The credits will now be made on the next working day which is Tuesday the 2nd of May. All major UK banks have been advised of the problem and asked not to make returns or pass charges to accounts effected."
