Free broadband on the way
Sunday, April 09, 2006 at 16:49 by Simon Spicer
The Carphone warehouse is expected to announce the launch of a free broadband service later this week that could lead to a big shake-up among the internet providers.

The company will provide a free broadband service to customers who sign up for their Talk Talk landline service.

The news comes after BSkyB confirmed last week that it is to start offering broadband connections from this autumn.

The Carphone Warehouses move into the market could well start a price war and we could see BSkyB offer a similar service when it launches.

We could then see companies which currently dominate the broadband market e.g BT, AOL, Wanadoo and NTL follow suit.

When did it cost to use internet access? I pay my cable company for broadband service, and internet access is free. Never understood why people pay AOL and other Company's for internet access when it comes with your DSL or Cable connection anyway. I guess they prey on the newbees.

Well, it's not really free, and not forever. It is bundled with other services, and it is "free" for as long as you are with CPW - which I doubt will be forever for many people. It is also capped and only available on LLUs.
