Apple launches Boot Camp
Wednesday, April 05, 2006 at 18:45 by Darren Chew
Today Apple launched its public beta software named Boot Camp. Boot Camp enables Intel based Apple Mac users to run Windows XP. Once Boot Camp has been installed it gives users the option to run either Mac OS or Windows XP operating systems when they start there computer.

According to the Apple website, Boot Camp simplifies the installation of Windows XP on an Intel based Mac. Using a simple graphical step by step assistant, users can dynamically create a second partition on the hard drive to install Windows XP to. It then allows users to burn a CD with all the necessary Windows drivers to install Windows from a Windows XP installation CD.

The public beta version of Boot Camp is available for download now, but it is currently on a software preview licence, meaning the software is only licensed for a limited time. Although it is said to be included as a feature in the new OS X Version 10.5 ‘Leopard' operating system which is due to be previewed at the Worldwide Developer Conference in August.
