Microsoft unveil Office 2007 pricing options
Friday, February 17, 2006 at 18:55 by Laurence Norah
Microsoft has today announced the pricing options for the next version of it's office suite, and at the same time confirmed the name as being Office 2007. As usual, there are a plethora of options to choose from (seven suites in total), which include a new basic package, which is just Excel, Outlook and Word.

Some of the suites, including the basic package, are aimed at OEM's only, so no pricing is given. Of the suites where pricing is given, prices are as follows (retail/upgrade:

$149/NA for the Home / Student Office version, which includes Excel, Powerpoint, Word and OneNote

$399/$239 for the Office Standard version, which includes Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint and Word

$449/$279 for the Office Small Business version, which includes Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, Word, Publisher and Outlook with Business Contact Manager

$499/$329 For the Office Professional, which includes Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, Word, Publisher, Access and Outlook with Business Contact Manager

The office product suite is one of Microsoft's key earners, but these prices are fairly steep, so Microsoft will need to find some strong arguments to convince existing customers that they need to upgrade. We look forward to the marketing campaign.
