Cisco Systems yesterday announced a definitive agreement to purchase select intellectual property, technology, customer contracts and assets of security firm Cybertrust, for $14 million in cash.
Cisco will purchase assets, intellectual property, customer contracts and other components of Cybertrust's security intelligence information service, known as Intellishield Alert Manager, which will become part of the Cisco MySDN security intelligence Web site.
Intellishield Alert Manager is a web-based security intelligence service, providing daily information to customers about information security threats and IT product vulnerabilities that affect the entire corporate information technology domain. The service is delivered through a continually updated web portal, XML feeds and email subscriptions.
Upon close of the transaction, the Intellishield Alert Manager team will become part of Cisco's Customer Advocacy organization, joining the Technical Support Services group led by senior vice president Joe Pinto, and the Intellishield Alert Manager service will be sold as a Cisco Brand Resale offering primarily available through Cisco partners with a security specialization.
The purchase is expected to close January 28, 2006.
