Coke gets inside the PSP
Saturday, August 13, 2005 at 11:47 by Laurence Norah
The Coca-Cola company has announced a partnership with Sony Computer Entertainment in Japan whereby Coke branded content will be available for download to the popular Wipeout Pure game for the PSP.

Sony has already been providing Wipeout Pure players with additional content for their game at no extra charge in the form of new tracks and ships. This offering from Coke is very similar, in that new game content is available free of charge, the only difference being that the content is of a Coke theme.

From the 11th of August new content will be available from cokestyle.net, and the promotion will be running until the 27th of October. Currently the content would only appear to be available in Japanese, and there is no word on an American version of the addons.

With the huge popularity of gaming, both handheld and console, in-game advertising is clearly the next logical step for marketing firms to get their brand messages to consumers. We expect to see more of this sort of thing in the future. In the meantime, if you are running the Japanese version of Wipeout Pure on your PSP, head over to cokestyle.net and grab yourself some free gaming content.
