Yahoo launches audio search beta
Friday, August 05, 2005 at 10:50 by Laurence Norah
Yahoo! has announced the availability of a new beta search tool which allows users to search for audio files on the web. Yahoo! estimates that there are over 50 million audio files available over the Internet, so this sort of tool is bound to be quite useful.

The tool integrates with major music content providers, including iTunes, Napster and Yahoo! Music Unlimited. It also allows users to search for Podcasts, speeches, newscasts, sound effects and interviews. Essentially, most audio files on the Internet can now be searched for and purchased through the Yahoo! audio search tool.

Yahoo! is one of the first search engines on the market to offer an audio search service. Google and MSN are currently lacking audio search capabilities, but we expect that announcements of said services will be forthcoming in the not too distant future. In the meantime, the Yahoo! search service can be found at http://audio.search.yahoo.com/
