Online music store Napster has announced a partnership with Dwango Wireless to offer North American customers access to ringtones and graphics for their mobile phones.
The new service, called Napstertones, is available online either at www.napstertones.com, or directly from the Napster website. Chris Gorog, chairman and CEO of Napster, had the following to say about the offering:
Napster is dedicated to giving consumers the widest set of options to access the music they love in a way that fits their lifestyle," said. We are excited to work with Dwango to make Napstertones a reality and give millions of wireless subscribers a simple way to get a taste of the Napster experience.
Content on Napstertones includes polyphonic ringtones, mastertones and voicetones as well as unique graphics and wallpapers. Items are priced from $1.99 to $2.99. If a user purchases a Napstertone within the next thirty days, they get a free song download of their choice from the Napster catalog.
Napstertones is available right now for Cingular and T-Mobile subscribers, with other mobile operators expected to be compatible by Summer of 2005. Napstertones is planned to roll out across Canada for Rogers Wireless and Fido customers this June.
