Apple sued over iTunes
Friday, January 07, 2005 at 10:41 by Laurence Norah
Apple is being sued by one of its iTunes customers because the customer believes that Apple is breaking anti-trust laws. Thomas Slattery is claiming that he was forced to buy an iPod because without one you cannot to listen to music bought from iTunes whilst on the move.

Slattery believes that this sort of behaviour is unacceptable and monopolistic, and he should be free to put his iTunes music onto any player he wishes. Apple no doubt will argue that they are not suppressing competition by their behaviour, and that there are plenty of other online music stores to choose from, as well as thousands of stores which are not online.

We don't expect this case to hurt Apple a great deal, but we'll watch the outcome with interest anyway, and keep you informed.
