Bill Gates gets Windows BSOD at CES
Thursday, January 06, 2005 at 19:52 by Laurence Norah
Bill Gates discovered that his shiny new Media Center software is not entirely bug free at the Consumer Electronics Show this week, when the machine he was showcasing threw one of those dreaded blue screens of death that Windows users will know and love.

The Microsoft keynote speech was supposed to be showing off the idea of the digital home and how the Media Center PC should be a key part of that, but as is often the case with running a live software demo, if something can go wrong, it will.

This wasn't the only problem that the Microsoft keynote speech suffered from, an Xbox game demo also threw an out of system memory error.

Microsoft have a bit of a history of embarrassment during major events such as this, but it doesn't seem to have stopped them from attaining their position in the market that they hold today. We don't expect this to be the last time we see this sort of error, but it's nice to know that even if you own the software company, it doesn't mean the software will work for you.
