TiVo launch laptop transfer service
Monday, January 03, 2005 at 19:12 by Rich Kavanagh
TiVo, creators of the first digital video recorder (DVR), announced today its new TiVoToGo service enhancement is now available and has begun to roll out the software update to standalone TiVo Series 2 boxes.

The TiVoToGo service enhancement allows subscribers to transfer programs from their TiVo box to a laptop (or desktop computer) to enjoy their favourite shows anywhere. The TiVoToGo service enhancement is available free of charge as part of the TiVo service.

Matt Wisk, Chief Marketing Officer at TiVo said,

"We're all about delivering lifestyle benefits to our subscribers. Consumers don't want to be tied to their living room to watch their favourite entertainment. Other generic DVRs confine your entertainment experience to the living room, but with TiVoToGo, subscribers can take their favourite shows with them to enjoy on business trips or family vacations."

Shares of TiVo rose 3.5% on news of the announcement.
