Two new Internet domains, ".post" and ".travel" have been approved by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).
In advancing the applications for postal services and the travel industry, ICANN said they were still considering eight other proposals including ".asia", ".jobs" and ".xxx". Separately, ".eu" for the European Union is also in the works.
Negotiations will now begin on creating and running the domain names. The process could take months, though officials warned that there was no guarantee the domains would ultimately be accepted.
There are currently over 200 domain names, mostly for specific countries like ".ie" for Ireland and ".uk" for the United Kingdom.
The last top level domain names introduced were back in 2000 when ICANN approved seven TLDs for global use, including ".biz", ".info" and ".museum".
