Google to take on Internet Explorer?
Saturday, September 25, 2004 at 09:49 by Andy Holliday
Rumours are rife across the internet that Google may be on the verge of launching a web browser to rival the likes of Internet Explorer, Netscape and Mozilla to name but a few.

Recent developments have fuelled these rumours such as domain name registration (gbrowser.com), a patent application and recent staff acquisitions such as Java experts.

The Google franchise could well be onto a winner and combine a web-browser with their pop-up blocking and blogger technology not to mention their hyped-up Gmail free email service.

It's not clear whether it will be a completely new browser written from the ground-up or whether they will use Mozilla's open-source model.

We will keep you updated with any breaking news on this area.
