DVD Jon cracks Apple Airport Express
Thursday, August 12, 2004 at 23:04 by Rich Kavanagh
DVD Jon is becoming bit of a regular in the media. Up to his usual tricks again, Norwegian programmer Jon Johansen has taken to cracking yet another Apple product.

The product under Jon's microscope this time, is the Airport Express, a handy gadget that allows you to stream your iTunes music to any room in your house, wirelessly.

The Airport Express uses encryption to transmit iTunes songs and Jon Johansen, better known on the Internet as DVD Jon, has decrypted and published the encryption key that the Airport Express uses.

Together with the encryption key, DVD Jon has released a small program called JustePort that allows any application to broadcast music around your home using the Airport Express.

Jon Johansen gained his nickname DVD Jon by first cracking the DVD Content Scrambling System with his DeCSS product back in 1999.

He was back in the headlines once again in November last year when he cracked the Apple iTunes encryption.
