As competition between online music stores increases, it seems that firms are having to offer more to consumers to tempt them in. Napster are now offering users a free digital music player when they subscribe for a year.
The player in question, a Rio Chiba Sport, is a portable flash memory player with 128mb of on board memory, allowing around 30 mp3 tracks to be stored. It also has a built in FM radio and the ability to be upgraded to 512Mb of memory. For an extra USD80 you can get a Rio Nitrus instead, which has 1.5GB of on board memory.
How successful this promotion will be remains to be seen, but for users currently looking at the options this will certainly be tempting. A years subscription to Napster currently costs USD119.40. More information on the offer and the hardware available can be found here.
