On Demand Distribution (OD2), the company providing the services behind the scenes for European music distribution sites such as mycokemusic.com and bignoisemusic.com, have announced a new service called SonicSelector.
Essentially an online jukebox, the new service lets users listen to music from as little as one uk penny per track. Over 350,000 tracks from 12,000 artists are available to listen to, and the user is able to purchase tracks they like from 75p per track.
Charles Grimsdale, CEO of OD2, said:
SonicSelector is the ultimate online jukebox. For users of the Windows Media Player 9 Series, it is a must have plug-in - and it’s free. It enables users to expand their record collection instantly with 350,000 songs. Users can stream any song any time, and download or burn to CD the titles that they want to keep. The pay-as-you-go system also allows the users to spend as little or as much as they wish each month, without the burden of a fixed rate subscription.
Provided, as Charles Grimsdale says, as a plug in for Windows Media Player 9, the new product is available right now from a number of European retailers, including MTV, Tiscali and Packard Bell, as well as directly from OD2's SonicSelector site.
