Google to increase Gmail to a terabyte?
Thursday, May 20, 2004 at 10:28 by Andy Holliday
We brought you news in the past of Google's Gmail service, the first e-mail service on the internet to offer 1 gigabyte of storage.

This week, some users of the service have noticed that their storage has quietly been increased to a terabyte or 1000 gigabytes.

Is this some clever trick to get more people to sign up? Will this be for all users? Is this a mistake? Google weren't commenting when asked earlier.

It's unlikely thay many people could use that amount of storage given that 1 terabyte is more than 4 times the size of a typical high-end hard-drive for home users.

We will keep you posted as always on developments in this area.

UPDATE: Gmail terabyte increase was down to 'bug'
