Friday, February 13, 2004 at 14:45 by Rich Kavanagh
Mobile operator Vodafone have announced they're to start offering 3G data services to customers in the UK within a month.

The Mobile Connect Card will enable a laptop computer to connect to the Internet at speeds of upto 384Kbit/Sec.

Bill Morrow, CEO of Vodafone UK said,

"Today's businesses are more and more dependent on mobilising the workforce and keeping realtime access to corporate databases, as well as access to the Internet. Building on our already highly successful GPRS capability, the unique 3G service is yet another step towards making the mobile virtual office environment a true reality."

The Mobile Connect Card also has the ability to automatically fall-back to GRPS when out of 3G range.
