SCO take their website offline
Monday, February 02, 2004 at 11:42 by Rich Kavanagh
The MyDoom virus that caused utter mayhem last week did what it set out to do.

Take the SCO website offline.

The MyDoom virus infected hundred of thousands of computers in less than a week and was programmed to attack the www.sco.com on 1st February 2004 with the intent of making the website unavailable.

It succeeded.

SCO though, were quite quick in their actions.

They removed the www.sco.com name from their DNS servers, which means any computer that is infected with MyDoom would not be able to find the website to attack it.

The down side of this of course, is that genuine customers and partners of www.sco.com can no longer find the website either.

To that end, www.sco.com have set up a temporary address of www2.sco.com

The problem there is that some of the links on the www2.sco.com site, go back to www.sco.com which of course, is still offline.

Update: SCO launch another URL to their website, thescogroup.com
